Norwich

Tucked into Muskingum County, this small Ohio village has a population of 89 residents spread across 51 housing units. Ownership is the dominant tenure here, with 90.2 percent of occupied units owner-occupied, one of the higher ownership rates found in communities of any size. The median gross rent of $900 per month applies to the small share of rental units in the village. Median household income stands at $64,750. Because the village itself is so compact, most working residents commute to employment centers elsewhere in Muskingum County or the surrounding region, as is typical for small unincorporated places and villages throughout rural Ohio. The tight concentration of households and the high rate of homeownership give Norwich a settled, established character typical of small Muskingum County communities that developed alongside the county's agricultural and small-town commercial history.
